Family pictures 2018

Well, we are all together for this family photo but poor Brad was sick and pale and my hair was flying in the wind. Not to mention the extra weight I've packed on and the kids have been teasing their Dad that he is losing his hair. Other than that we all look fantastic. ;) At least we have on our Sunday clothes and not looking like the raggedy bunch we usually are for family pictures.

Ethan turns 22 (September 19, 2018)

Ethan is now 22 years old! He started college just a couple days before his birthday so we gave him textbook money and a couple new pairs of jeans for school. He also started dating Channi exclusively. They had gone out as friends quite a bit for months before but it was about this time that they started dating just each other. She is a fun, outgoing, friendly girl and we all really like her. Can't wait to see what this next year brings for this young man!

Jake's sweet 16 party (August 2018)

My little Jakey Juice is not so little anymore! He is now 16 and Hunter and Mariah (the girl that really likes Jake-and vice versa) sent me a text saying they would like to throw him a surprise birthday party. I told them I would get pizza, make the cake, and get ice cream if they wanted to decorate and plan the events. He ended up having around 10 friends over. His friend German couldn't make it but Ty came along with Ireland and of course Jesse and Hunter were there too. Everyone had a great time and they played night games, ate, and visited. It was so cute to see how outgoing Jake is when he's around his friends. Oh, and Savannah Ralph came too so lots of cousins. He really only mentioned a fitbit so that's what we got him (along with paying for his driving school;) I can't believe he is already 16 years old!

The Accident (August 20, 2018)

So, while the kids went to back to school, Dennis went to the E.R. I got a call from Ethan that he had taken Dennis to the Emergency Room. That he had cut his leg pretty bad and would probably need stitches. Then Dennis sent me a picture and I thought, "Oh, it doesn't look that bad." Well, that was only because of the angle of the photo because when I got to the E.R. this is what I found. Dennis was unloading his big truck and 10-12 scaffolding frames fell on him and pushed him with such force that as he flew out of the truck, his knee got caught on a tiny piece of metal sticking up on the tailgate of his truck and pulled with such force that it ripped his leg down to the bone. It was horrible! It took quite a while to get his leg cleaned out because they had a life threatening emergency to help with first and I was really worried about infection setting in. They finally cleaned him up and put 5 or 6 stitches on the inside and 18-20 on the outside. He did end up getting quite an infection and had to be put on 2 or 3 doses of antibiotic and had an antibiotic cream as well. But, the man wouldn't (won't) stay down and was back to work two days later. I went with him for 2 weeks and did all the grunt work while he talked with workers, contractors, and went over blueprints with the guys. I seriously don't know how he does all he does each day. He is over at least 12 jobs and is constantly running from house to house. We are so grateful he didn't break or shatter his kneecap and that his ligaments and tendons were all okay.

"Bye Bye Birdie" August 2018

Whenever Aunt Elena comes during the summer she gets tickets for a Scera Outdoor Theater play. We absolutely love it (well, me, Jake, and Ava). This year it was "Bye Bye Birdie". It was such a fun night and we always have a great time together. This year Ginger, Paul, and Taylor joined the fun. Di and Melinda and Jane were there too. Morgan, Lexi, and Levi came as well as Dean, Alisa, and Kate, Eden, and Meg. We always have a pretty big group.

Jake and Ava love going to the outdoor plays.

Lagoon Day for Ava (August 2018)

Ava's best friend, Mckenzie, invited her to go to Lagoon with her family. Oh my goodness, they had a blast and stayed until it closed. These two get along so well. They are always baking together and now they jog together every morning before school. Anyway, I think their favorite ride was "Rattlesnake Rapids" where they got soaked by ice cold water.

Kensie and Ava soaked and laughing.

Ava and Kensie made a cake for Brynlee to celebrate her first day of preschool.

Of course they wanted to match when they went to Lagoon.

Fishing Camp (August 6,7,8 2018)

This Eli LOVES fishing! Unfortunately for him, his father nor his brothers like to. So when our neighbor's son and his two buddies started a "fishing camp" to teach younger kids how to fish, we signed Eli up. He was in heaven! The first day they went to a little pond close to Utah Lake. They caught lots of blue gills (which have very spiky back fins). The next day they went to the Jordan River close to our bike trail and none of the boys had any luck until it was almost time to call it a day. And then, a young boy pulled in a 5 lb catfish! Man, were they excited. And on the last day, they went to Manilla Pond over in Pleasant Grove and Eli caught 3 rainbow trout. He was about the only boy to catch anything that day. It was a great experience for him and one I think he will always remember.

First day's prize; a bluegill. They always put the fish back in the water

Eli with Benny. (Our neighbor's son who put this together. He lives for fishing.)

Benny holding up the big catfish that Ryder caught (The boy in the white hat). Ryder wasn't sure he wanted to hold it so Benny took over for him. The little boys were quite mesmerized by the whole thing.

Eli was the youngest. I went with them the 2nd and 3rd day so I could take pictures (and to keep an eye on Eli since he's such an active kid).

Eli's rainbow trout. He was so happy about this little fish. Caught them with little pieces of bread.

Last catch for Mr. Eli. I'm sure we will be doing this every summer that Benny offers it.
