The Accident (August 20, 2018)

So, while the kids went to back to school, Dennis went to the E.R. I got a call from Ethan that he had taken Dennis to the Emergency Room. That he had cut his leg pretty bad and would probably need stitches. Then Dennis sent me a picture and I thought, "Oh, it doesn't look that bad." Well, that was only because of the angle of the photo because when I got to the E.R. this is what I found. Dennis was unloading his big truck and 10-12 scaffolding frames fell on him and pushed him with such force that as he flew out of the truck, his knee got caught on a tiny piece of metal sticking up on the tailgate of his truck and pulled with such force that it ripped his leg down to the bone. It was horrible! It took quite a while to get his leg cleaned out because they had a life threatening emergency to help with first and I was really worried about infection setting in. They finally cleaned him up and put 5 or 6 stitches on the inside and 18-20 on the outside. He did end up getting quite an infection and had to be put on 2 or 3 doses of antibiotic and had an antibiotic cream as well. But, the man wouldn't (won't) stay down and was back to work two days later. I went with him for 2 weeks and did all the grunt work while he talked with workers, contractors, and went over blueprints with the guys. I seriously don't know how he does all he does each day. He is over at least 12 jobs and is constantly running from house to house. We are so grateful he didn't break or shatter his kneecap and that his ligaments and tendons were all okay.

This is still so shocking to see and amazing that he is able to be exercising already. You were a good wife to go help him and it sounds like you gained a deeper appreciation of all that he does! Sometimes we need to be reminded of how hard our hubbies work for us!
