Mother's Day Tribute

As Mother's Day is only a few days away, I thought I would post what I wrote for my dear mom. "I just wanted to write and tell you how much I love you and appreciate all of the sacrifices you have made for me over the years. I know it's not easy to be a mother and to be responsible for teaching and raising children. I know it was a lot of work to plan Family Home Evening week after week and to consistently have family scripture study and discussion night after night. You and Dad made it seem so easy, that it was just a part of life. I have so much love and respect for you. You loved us and did anything and everything for us. By your example we learned what selflessness really was.
I was able to do so many things because you and Dad were willing to sacrifice for me. I will never forget basketball camp, sport after sport, the prom dress and all that went with it, plays and musical instruments when I was younger and all the driving to and from all the activities I wanted to go to.
I want to be the kind of mom you were and are. You live for your children and grandchildren and want them to be happy and well cared for. You understand that for them to be truly happy they must live good wholesome lives and you desire for them to turn to the Lord and live as He lived.
I hope I can do as well as you as I try to teach my children the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I hope they love to hear His words and desire to be as close to Him as they can. I hope they will have the scriptures "written on their hearts and minds" and a burning testimony in their hearts as they leave home. I know that parents "teach" not only by word but by example as well. ALL of your children were taught by the kind of lives you and Dad lived and continue to live. You put the Lord first and keep His commandments. You not only live the letter of the law but you keep the spirit of the law as well. I hope you feel that you have accomplished many great things in life, but most important I hope you know you fulfilled your calling as a mother with a love unequalled by most! I love you Mom. Happy Mother's Day!"

What a wonderful tribute Nichole. I feel a shaking of the couch coming on!!! (i.e. mother's tears) Being a mom is a lot harder than mom made it look!

Amen!! The couch would be shaking if only they had a couch at the moment. HA It was so fun seeing you and 1/2 your family. Rick has the move to Utah itch again and talked about it all the way home!! Can't wait for you to come.
