The Bet

I guess there was a bet between Rick/Morgan and Ethan/Lexi. They were driving and saw some road-kill on the road. Rick and Morgan said it was an armadillo and Ethan and Lexi said it was a possum. Whoever lost had to jump in the pool with their clothes on. Well, it turned out to be an armadillo so Ethan and Lexi had to pay the debt. Lexi totally got Ethan though and when they counted to three he jumped and she didn't! She did jump in after he came up but it was so funny. (I just realized I have the pictures backwards!)

First Sunday in Texas

This was the first Sunday in Texas. Everyone looks happy even though it was Fast Sunday and kids were quite hungry. I must say we have such beautiful children:)

Ava's Loves

Little Miss Ava loved many things in Texas! She loved little Jack Jack (and fed him everything she could get her chubby little hands on), Sundance and feeding him with Lexi, and she loved the girls! (Morgan would not let me get a decent picture of her-she always had a pillow handy to block my shot) but Lexi let me take pictures of her with Ava fixing her hair. Ava also loved her "Lena" and cried for her at naptime and bedtime but I didn't get a picture of the two of them together!

"I scared, I scared!"

Poor little Ava. When we stopped in Clovis, New Mexico the first night Ava couldn't get to sleep. She and I were sleeping with Grandma Merrill and Ethan, Brad, and Jake were in the other bed. Well, Grandma must have been exhausted because before we were barely situated, she was snoring so loud the lamp was shaking. Ava bolted into my side quivering and said, "I scared, I scared!" I tried to tell her it was just Grandma but she was not about to accept that. I finally put a little blue pillow over her ear and she gave in and went to sleep. The next morning she was so worn out that she continued to sleep while everyone else got ready to travel the last few hours into Texas. What a night!

Texas-2010

I know Elena already blogged about this but it is too funny not to write about! Poor mom, hadn't been driving too long in New Mexico when she got pulled over. I had just told her she was allowed five miles over the speed limit and she saw a 45 mile per hour sign so she said, "Oh, good I can go 50". Sure enough, flashing lights in a matter of seconds. Mom then tells the officer, "I'm allowed 5 over." and he says, "Yes ma'am I understand that but you were going 50 in a 35". Then ol' Loosey Goose demands to know where the sign was because we certainly didn't see one. Needless to say she got a whopping $86.00 fine! I asked the officer if I could take a picture of the two of them for my scrap book and he laughed and said that would be fine. You can take a Reidhead out of the fight but you can't take the fight out of the Reidhead!!

New Mexico

These mountains, on the reservation were the only things we thought were beautiful in New Mexico as we drove to and from Texas. The rest of New Mexico just doesn't have much appeal if you ask me. Course, to be fair, we pretty much stayed on one highway so maybe other parts are breath-taking.
